Yesterday I started chain piecing my strips together. To do this I sewed at a 45 degree angle, from corner to corner with the excess fabric to the right. IMPORTANT: Right sides of the fabric together as you chain piece.
After chaining all the strips, I cut 1/4 from the seam and then snipped the thread between. I ended up with a one strip of fabric that was as long as my house (no joke lol).
Happy enjoyed napping on my long strip of fabric. Sweet lil man!
After cutting seam allowance and snipping in between thread, I simple started sewing one end of the strip to the other end, right side together. After that you end up with a crease that you cut straight across, then repeat sewing end to end right sides together until you end up with your desired width quilt top. I was pretty pleased with how this turned out and can't wait to do another ;)

Matching and cutting fabric
May 6, 2017
I finally found some time to shop for a matching fabric for my trail strip as I go quilt. I got lucky and found a new cutting board 3 piece set on sale today, happy dance. I cut my strips actually at a 2". In my previous posts I said 2 1/2" but they are 2". NO biggie because this is a trail. Hopefully I will have some pics soon of piecing these bad boy strips into a quilt. Thanks for reading!

I am experimenting with a strip quilting as you go method I seen demonstrated by Susan at Missouri star quilts. I love all of their tutorials. I am using 2in strips cut from some fabric scraps just to practice this method. More to come soon! Thanks for visiting ya'll!
